TRX FORCE Kit Review

TRX FORCE Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was in the military and the gym on base had a few sets of TRX's that you could use. I don't like lifting weights on a regular basis, every now and then is fine to gauge where you are at, but ultimately I feel body weight workouts will get you in better overall shape.

I added the TRX to my workout and noticed my stabilizer muscles were being heavily recruited and I thought I had trained them enough already. I was WRONG. The TRX system delivers its promise of being durable, portable and effective.

I used it a good bit and then when I wanted my own set I found out how expensive they were and started looking for alternatives.

I ended up with finding some nylon straps at my local Home Depot that are about 2" wide and can withstand up to 5,400 lbs of tension. I've used some stiff garden hose for handles, but I know people have used PVC pipe as well. I've made two sets; One with grommets placed 6" apart all down the webbing, and then another pair that are marked every 6" with a black line and you just wrap the remaining length around your anchor point. Both sets have the 6" sections numbered starting with '1' at the bottom grommet/line and increasing the numbers as you go up the length of webbing.

For attaching them to doors I found that using a carabiner wrapped in something soft (cloth, old wet suit material, etc.) and then tapped up are pretty decent and don't damage doors. The pair without grommets I just tie a knot in the end of the line, or wherever I need the knot, and close the door on it.

I haven't noticed anything wrong with the set with grommets, but I suspect that adding the grommets has reduced the tension resistance to a certain degree, thus the extra pair without the grommets.

A home made kit might run you $15-30 depending on your resources and scrounging ability

I was pleased with the system, but I can not see how they justify the prices. Also I can not find anything on their website saying where their product materials come from or where the manufacturing takes place. I would hope something developed by a Navy SEAL would try to keep as much of their product assembled and built by Americans. No offense to the rest of the world's nations of course.

Weighted Sports Hula Hoop for Weight Loss - Trim Hoop 4B 4 lb. Travel Easy, Easy to Assemble/Disassemble Review

Weighted Sports Hula Hoop for Weight Loss - Trim Hoop 4B 4 lb. Travel Easy, Easy to Assemble/Disassemble
Average Reviews:

I now have two hoops that I love. The first one is the 8 piece "Pocket" hoop by Troo Hoops which unfortunately isn't sold on-line by Amazon. While it can be purchased directly from the Troo Hoops website, I went to the NYC store for a custom made hoop and to survey the quality first hand.It is beautiful, study and should hold up to long term abuse.Unfortunately, it was twice the price of my 2nd favorite hoop: the Sport Hoop "Trim Hoop" 4B.While the Pocket Hoop is only 1.6lbs, the Trim Hoop is 3.9lbs (a little less than the advertised 4 lbs) and I really like the heavier weight. The extra heft makes it easier to keep it up and spinning.I also like the foam cushioning. With regard to the "bruising" complaints of other users, this hoop doesn't have the waves/ridges of some of the other Sport Hoop brand offerings. In addition, the box recommends that novice hoopers restrict their hoop practice to no more than two intervals of 10 minutes per day for the first two weeks which should enable their bodies to become accustomed to the impact of the weight.I would definitely recommend this as a great starter hoop for new hoopers focused on fitness rather than dance/tricks.

INTERVAL X PLUS AND ABS/CORE PLUS DVDs from P90X Plus with Tony Horton Review

INTERVAL X PLUS AND ABS/CORE PLUS DVDs from P90X Plus with Tony Horton
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Interval X Plus seems to be a substitute for Plyometrics for P90x grads. As Tony says in his intro, "Interval work is a lot more effective than standard cardiovascular exercise."Plyo is one of my favorite workouts, so I did not look forward to replacing it.This workout is only 41:30 minutes and thankfully so because it is HARD!I had to give myself extra breaks the first time I did it.There is only one break in the middle, I feel this workout needs more little breaks while the Kenpo workouts need fewer breaks, but I guess that would defeat the purpose of Intervals.

Intervals keep the heart rate moving up and down because you are moving at three different speeds.Your "rest" is doing a move at a less intense level for 20 seconds, then you pick it up for the next 20 and go full tilt for the last 20 seconds. After one move you go immediately to the next move at 20 seconds easy pace and so on. You also do Core Synergistic moves like Loading Dock and 3 Count and Prison Cell Push Ups (I HATE those!) which adds to the intensity. After a minute break, you do the same moves again but in the opposite order, so you do the Prison Cell push-ups back-to-back!Ugh!This workout is probably effective as heck, but I dread it!I will add this workout to my rotation once in a while to mix things up, but I will continue to do Plyo more often.

The Abs/Core Plus routine is great! It is 20 minutes, so it is a little longer than Ab Ripper X, but it is over in a flash because there are so many different moves you do and in different positions. You do an exercise hanging from a pull-up bar, then standing with or without light weights, then in a push-up position, and then in a sitting position. Each block of moves includes exercises in all four positions, so there is a lot of variety. It is effective, too!My question is: why is this workout included in Interval X Plus? You do not do Ab Ripper X on Plyo days, so why would you do Ab/Core Plus on Interval days? This workout should have been included on the Total Body Plus DVD.It's a pain to have to put in two different DVDs on Total Body Plus days.

Weighted Sports Hula Hoop for Weight Loss - Trim Hoop 3B 3 lb. No Ridge, Travel Easy and Easy to Assemble/disassemble Review

Weighted Sports Hula Hoop for Weight Loss - Trim Hoop 3B 3 lb. No Ridge, Travel Easy and Easy to Assemble/disassemble

After reading the issues people had with the inner bumps on the other weighted hoops, I decided to give this one a try.It is easy to put together - snaps into place - but like others I hadn't gotten it quite "right" so the first couple of times it came apart.Once I fixed those two areas it was good to go.I've only been using it a couple of days, but so far it's perfect.I don't have any bruising (as mentioned by those people who bought the hoops with the inner bumps), but I've had a bit of difficulty keeping it up.However, I'm sure I'll be hooping if I keep trying since I'm getting better each day.

Do beware however that this hoop is HUGE!I guess I'm still visualizing the kids hula hoops from years ago. This hoop requires quite a bit of free space so be prepared.

I'd recommend it to anyone who is considering purchasing a weighted hoop

FreeMotion X3 Treadmill Incline Trainer Review

FreeMotion X3 Treadmill Incline Trainer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is 99.999% identical to the same incline trainer you will see advertised on infomercials at night. Whats the .001% difference? Its the name on the product sticker. Thats it. Also you will not get the iFit cards that the other one comes with $30 value. It will use those cards if you go buy them. If you have Amazon Prime the shipping is free.

So about this trainer. I have had it for 2 weeks now and use it every day. The deck is very forgiving to my obese frame. I use cross-trainer shoes and the impact on my knees is barely noticeable compared to running on the road. Honestly the most incline I have been able to pull off is roughly 20%. After that it feels as though I am going to slide off the deck, probably wont but it feels that way and this thing goes another 20% incline over that... can you say billy goat?

The hand grips do not register my pulse correctly. It was so off I went to my doctors for an EKG because I thought I had an arrhythmia. Turns out I didnt, so I ended up buying Polar A4 Pulse Heart Rate Monitor Watch which now has me squarely in my peak zone when I am exercising.

When you get it the assembly is pretty straightforward. Keep an eye on the 5foot coated wires, you will need to use them to pull the hand sensors and other cables through the arms.

My biggest gripe is with the shipper. The delivery person wanted to leave it in my driveway or put it in my garage. I needed it in my house because it was going to rain. My back is in pretty bad shape and it took some convincing to get him to at least put it in the doorway for me. They SHOULD have had 2 people to deliver this. I did not expect it to be set up, just put in the room I was going to assemble it in. The crate is massive and I guess it weighs in excess of 300 lbs. DO yourself a favor and disassemble it completely somewhere and carry in the lighter pieces. I was not sure of the amount of effort to do this, and that is why I wanted it brought in my house. Realistically, I could have taken off 50% of the parts and brought them in and saved my back a little. So, just take it apart where they drop it and carry it all in.

Pros:
>> Very comfortable deck
>> Varied and interesting workouts without the iFit cards.
>> Can use iFit cards
>> Fantastic fan that blows directly on your face/neck while exercising

Cons:
<< Because of the degree of incline ability the deck is about 8" off the floor, while flat, and 3 feet off the floor at 40deg, so taller people may need to duck in an 8' ceiling room (dont put this in a finished basement). You naturally compensate for steep angles by leaning forward, but it might be uncomfortable for very tall people.
<< Speakers are pathetic and can barely be heard over the running motors and fan. Have my iPod Touch cranked to max and its just weak sound.
<< Heavy to move. (put it where it will stay because once assembled its massive)

Overall the cons do not outweigh the pros which are substantial in my opinion.

This is a fantastic exercise machine to use at home, or even in a professional setting (pros may scoff at it though as being gimmicky). Buy this from Amazon you will save a few hundred in shipping alone. If you dont have Amazon Prime, get it for the money you save not paying for shipping elsewhere.

I love it. Thanks for reading my review.

Product Description:
Take your treadmill workout to the next level with the FreeMotion X3 interactive treadmill, which offers an incline of up to 30 percent. When set at its maximum incline, the X3 treadmill burns up to three times the calories as compared to walking on a flat surface. This means you can burn a ton of calories without having to run, reducing the impact on your joints with every workout. The X3 is powered by a DurX 2.8-horsepower motor, which employs an axial fan to reduce noise as it cools the treadmill's internal components. The fan not only extends the motor's life, but it also enhances your workout environment, letting you watch TV or listen to music without upping the volume. The DuraSoft cushioning system, meanwhile, reduces joint impact by 15 percent compared to road running, delivering the perfect balance of comfort and safety. And with easy-to-use one-touch controls for both speed (0 to 10 miles per hour) and incline (0 to 30 percent), you can increase or decrease the intensity of your workout at a moment's notice.
The X3 also offers a number of interactive features to amplify your workout experience. The Graffix Hi-Altitude 3D display, for instance, lets you view your workout like never before. Now you can view your progress as you climb a virtual mountainside, change angles to a different perspective, or zoom in close enough to view an animated figure running up the trail with you. At the same time, the display still tracks all the standard workout metrics, such as speed, time, distance, vertical feet, and calories burned. In addition, the treadmill includes a Random Trail Generator, which takes parts of the nine built-in workouts and rearranges them into a totally new workout experience. And if that's not enough customization, the treadmill is compatible with iFit workout cards. Each card is designed by a certified personal trainer and plugs directly into the treadmill's console, automatically adjusting your resistance. All told, iFit workouts can help you lose weight, feel great, and improve your overall performance in just eight weeks.
Other features include a roomy, non-slip climbing deck with 20-by-51-inch treadbelt; an iPod-compatible music port; a built-in sound system that produces a broad range of frequencies; a CardioGrip heart rate monitor with sensors built into the handlebars; a CoolAire workout fan that helps you work out longer and more comfortably; and a 250-pound weight capacity. The X3 treadmill measures 36 by 58 by 67 inches (W x H x D), weighs 215 pounds, and carries a lifetime warranty on the motor and a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

RevAbs 90-Day Ab Workout DVD (English and Spanish) Review

RevAbs 90-Day Ab Workout DVD
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I never write reviews, but I had to just for this product!

I ordered this after seeing Brett on Bridget Smith's morning show, now a days I have to see a product in action before diving in and making that purchase. Well I am glad I bought this, in less than 3 weeks my abs are already starting to come in.

I am already lean already and had abs before ---my stats 145lbs male 5'10.I have tried a lot of workouts to basically get my flat stomach more defined, this program hits my core and engages my ABS in every workout. Talk about being sore!!!Brett the trainer does a good job by letting us know to FIRE you abs even during the most simple exercises so you are always working out your abs!! These workouts are not long at all which is great for me, I tend to get bored or call it lazy with long workouts, with these I have no excuse.

Im looking forward to finishing phase 1 and "Rev"ing it up for phase 2! Look out SUMMER!!!!
