(More customer reviews)When I removed the chin-up bar from the package, I was impressed with the quality of the manufacture.It was easy to install, and after I installed it, and used it the first time, I was pretty pleased.
However, as was noted in another review, each time I used it, I had to retighten it to prevent the bar from rotating when I was using it.Retightening is done by rotating one end relative to the other, which causes the bar to lengthen and press the padded ends more firmly into the mounting sockets.After several times of doing this, I realized that the bar was getting loose because pressure from the chin-up bar was causing my doorframe to expand.The casing (trim around the doorframe) is separating at the corners, and the frame itself is widening where the chin-up bar is installed.
I think that any design with round ends that is kept from rotating merely by pressure against the door frame would be subject to the same problem.I have noticed other designs that have square-sided ends that would seem to be less prone to rotation during use and would not require such heavy pressure to prevent rotation.
One more thing--I don't think the sit-up feature is very practical.It takes a very long time to unscrew the bar enough to be able to remove it from the mounting sockets, and then one has to spend additional time to screw it back onto the plastic buttons provided for sit-up mounting.
