This little device is 2 separate handles that are wedged between the back and front of a closed door. They can be spaced as needed for your comfort.

There is no bar connecting the left and right handles. They are not connected in any way.

The door **must** close and should have a lock on it for safety. If the door opens with any weight on it, you'll fall.
There are pads on the grips and between your hands and the door - very nice. After a few reps, the straps connecting the front and back pieces have scrapped off a little paint at the top of my door. The other side of the door has similar scraping, but since I'm using a closet, damage doesn't matter.Wrapping all parts that contact the door may help prevent/reduce damage, but I haven't tried that.

Wearing knee pads is probably a good idea until you have lots of control, so you don't damage either your knees or the door with every rep.

Overall, this is a simple device that does what the picture shows for a small cost.It is sized for travel.
